Issues of Tharunka centred on sexuality and its expression have been printed since the mid 1970s. Early issues centred on significant issues affecting gay men, lesbians and bisexuals in society, such as police harassment, psychiatric and medical oppression, and the pressing need for law-reform. In later decades, issues were published which were broadly dedicated to sexual expression, rather than focused entirely on queer politics. This collection brings together issues that share this focus, offering a resource for examining the history of gender and sexuality in Sydney-based queer communities.
