TitleSwiftDate2006SubjectDance FilmDescriptionSwift is a 15-minute dance film adapted from Ros Warby’s theatrical show of the same name. Humorous, elegant and startlingly original, Ros Warby’s Swift is a kaleidoscope of fanciful characterisations, choreography and music. The solo dancer transforms from gremlin to gentle diva, exposing complex physical, psychological and emotional states experienced by the female protagonist. Stylistically Swift is a blend between filmic and theatrical aesthetics that plays with perspective and scale of the characters. The original performance premiered in Melbourne 2003 and has since toured to Europe and the US to critical acclaim before being adapted into this cinematic version. The director’s objective was to capture on film the essence of the live performance, the characters and their stories, creating a dance film that holds an emotional and imaginative connection offering an opportunity for the audience to focus in on the complexity and beauty of the dancing body through the eye of the camera.NoteThe ReelDance Archive was developed by ReelDance Inc. with support from Arts NSW, Australia Council for the Arts and Performance Space.Production companyRos Warby and Margie MedlinExtent00:14:40RegionAustraliaCollectionThe ReelDance Archive
