This collection contains the annual reports of the New South Wales University of Technology (NSWUT) / University of New South Wales (UNSW) from the university's first annual report in 1949/1950 until the present day.
UNSW was known as NSWUT until 7 October 1958 when the University of New South Wales Act was passed, which changed the name of the university to the University of New South Wales.
The format of the annual reports has altered over the years. Until 1958 the reports covered the year from July - June, but when the university changed its financial year to a calendar year, the reports also began to be printed on a calendar year basis. Until the late 1960s the report was often titled as the Report of Proceedings for the Year or Report of the Council. For 2002 - 2017 the annual report was printed in multiple volumes, with the additional volumes covering reports on finance and the university's controlled entities.
Further information on the structure of these annual reports is available in a thesis on the changing nature of the UNSW annual reports from 1950 - 1988 - "University Annual Reports as Practised: The Case of UNSW 1950 - 1988", which was written by John Cameron in 1990.

UNSW respectfully acknowledges the Bidjigal clan of the Dharawal Nation, alongside the Biripai, Dharug, Gadigal, Gumbaynggirr, Ngunnawal, and Wiradjuri peoples, on whose unceded lands we are privileged to learn, teach, and work. We honour the Elders of these Nations, past and present, and recognise the broader Nations with whom we walk together. UNSW acknowledges the enduring connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to culture, community, and Country.
